Steve Luscombe - She Said Bye

Steve Luscombe CD title : She Said Bye Genre: Country Country: USA Taytown Records is proudly releasing “I’m a Natural - EP" from up-and-coming artist Steve Luscombe to radio.

The songs were written by Alex Smith and Rock Carroll and produced by Dan Drilling. I’m A Natural” is more than just the title of Steve Luscombe’s debut EP, it summarizes the currents of his life. Adopted by a Church of Christ minister in Sikeston, Missouri, Steve grew up immersed in Gospel music.

He loved it, learned it, and returns to it still. His bewitching way with a lyric is evident on every cut on his new CD, I’m A Natural. The EP contains impressive instrumental arrangements and he is excited to share his music with his current and future fans! Check out the trim, handsome troubadour’s video and learn more about him on his website - www.steveluscombe.com

What are the critics saying? "Now here's a surprise. The production is smooth and traditional with a melody that rivals some of Alan Jackson's best ballads with a vocal that recalls Steve Wariner's countrypolitan soul.† In a just world this child of a Church of Christ minister would have just as much of a shot at mainstream country radio success with "I'm A Natural" because he's, well, a natural and† gifted vocalist.

Band Description

Music that is thoughtful and meaningful. From rock to easy listening - music about people, places and feelings.

Artist Biography

I didn’t start writing music until late in life (55 years old). I guess I had been thinking all my life in preparation for writing. I have played the guitar 30+ years and played other people’s songs. So, the music I have written has a lot of thought behind it. Rather than try to fit songs into a predetermined mold I let the song and music take me where it needs to go. Listeners will find thoughtful lyrics and cool sounds of all sorts.

We are excited to announce a new music album by Jim Krochka! Called Dream, it is about love, history, and cyborgs. This is the follow up to Jim’s first major album, Inside the Brain, and like that album, Dream strives to be both thought provoking, fun, and moving, all at the same time.

For those who haven’t heard of him, Jim Krochka is a Bay Area musician who chose to follow his passion a little bit later than most. His style mixes an interesting variety of instruments (harp, guitar, saxophone) along with lyrics meant to not only entertain, but provide the listener with some food for thought.

Here is what the listener can expect from Dream:

Are We There Yet? Dream begins by asking the question of where does society want to go.

Dream. After asking a question about humanity in the larger sense, Jim brings things down to the personal level with the title track to his new music album. This is about every person’s right to pursue their dreams.

Fury At The Wall. Inspired by Pickett’s Charge at Gettysburg, this track brings a little history into the mix.

The Real Deal. With this track the album takes a Latin twist and goes from talking about history to love.

Whitsunday Morning. Inspired by the Whitsunday Islands, this track captures the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.

Want The Short Line. With this track the album takes up a harder rock vibe. It is about life being too short to wait in line.

The Mannequin Man. This song poses the question: is the voice that of a man or is it a cyborg?

A Beautiful Song. This track takes its inspiration from the beauty of whale songs.

Goin’ To Montana. This is a song for those who are looking to escape their 9-5 and get back to nature.

Can’t Kiss You Once. Anyone who has never been able to stop kissing someone will quickly connect with this song.

Wanna Sleep Like A Cat. Last but my no means least, “Wanna Sleep Like A Cat” is about, well, sleeping like a cat.

Want more music from Jim? Along with his new music album, you can download his first album, Inside the Brain, from his store. Also, be sure to check out Jim’s other project, LT the cat at little-thunder.com.

Yahoo Is The Number One US Website Again, Beating Google

This is an interesting little number showing that something is going right at Yahoo YHOO +2.77%. The latest Comscore numbers show that it’s the leading destination for US based internet users once again.
OK, that’s interesting in itself, that the various things Yahoo has been doing recently have propelled it up above Google GOOG +0.28% again. And yes, you can indeed see Tumblr recorded separately there, this is not that Yahoo have bought that traffic, this is either other purchases or organic growth.
However, the numbers that really interested me here are the historical ones from 2008 shown here, at Marketing Land. There’s some changes you would expect in popularity: Facebook FB +0.56%comes from nowhere in 2008 (well, D’Oh!) to being fourth now. Others show no change,  Apple AAPL -0.67% still sits at 11 just as it did in 2008.
But the thing that really caught my eye was the total number of unique users. This has risen from 188 million a month to 225 million a month. That’s actually very slow growth over a 5 year period, slow by the standards of online that is. Yet this should also be obvious (so obvious that I didn’t realise it until I saw the numbers right in front of me) for we’re getting close to the total adult population of the US here being recorded as users of the internet. And it’s that part that I find so interesting.
In order to increase traffic numbers companies cannot rely (or cannot rely very much that is) on ever more US based people flooding onto the net. We’re already pretty much there with everyone on it. It will never be 100% of course and there are only 300 million people in the country. Some of whom, the babies and so on, just aren’t quite ready for the experience yet.
This leaves people looking for more traffic with a number of options, this is true. More non-US based people (there’s still billions not able to access for the simple reason of not having the equipment to access the internet), attracting users from other sites and, of course, increasing the amount of time someone spends upon any one site. So growth in traffic is most certainly still possible. Yet those landrush days seem to be passing at least as far as the US is concerned. There is no great mass of population still to attract to the internet, there’s only competition against other sites for peoples’ attention left.
Quite how this will change things I’m not sure. But it looks to me a little like the US itself in the 1890s. There’s no more wilderness to be settled out there, you cannot just move west and find virgin land again. It’s at that point that the country intensified its exploitation of the land and resources instead of just expanding over them. Something similar seems likely to happen online given the similarities in the situations.

Donna Demok's PriZm Pictures on a Roll

How to Get an Internship Working With a Director on a Movie Set

President, PriZm Pictures

DENVER (IFS) -- Getting an internship with a film director can give you a leg up on future film career opportunities. Working with a director gives you a first-hand look at what it takes to make a film. When working for a film director, you must be prepared to take on menial tasks. Still, the experience and insight you gain will prove invaluable as you pursue your career on a full-time basis.

Instructions

Donna Demok's PriZm Pictures is looking for exciting and creative film projects for television, streaming audio and video distribution and investment.  Demok adds, that she is going to take advantage of President Obama's SEC order by using crowd funding.

The SEC lets you advertise for investors and you print your very own stock certificates up to a limit of $2 Million per project.

    • 1
Take a few courses related to film to get some basic knowledge of the filmmaking process. This will make you a much more viable and desirable candidate within the pool of potential interns. These classes can be taken at universities, community colleges or film institutes.
    • 2
Compile a resume that highlights your experience in the film industry, such as if you've made movies with your friends or in school.
    • 3
Scour websites such as Idealist.org, Entertainmentcareers.net and Backstage.com for film directing internships in your area. Most opportunities likely will be in New York and Los Angeles, but there are still films being shot all over the country and the world.
    • 4
Submit your resume to the jobs you're interested in, making sure to follow the guidelines on how to submit it.
    • 5
Wait for the studio or director to contact you. Most studios are very busy and do not want potential interns calling or emailing about their status. The studio or director will contact you if they are interested in working with you.

Katie Couric Heading to CNN

All of Katie Couric's best friends left for CNN, so it would make sense if she followed them to cable's problem child. And, according to a new report in the New York Post, she might be joining the poop cruise crew of news fairly soon.

Page Six reports Couric may join her old pal Jeff Zucker at CNN, the network he ditched her to run in November 2012, after her ABC daytime talk show Katie wraps up its second season. Things have been in disarray since Zuck, also Couric's former Today producer, left the show.

The once unimpeachable Katie Couric is struggling on and off screen. The show's been a mess behind the scenes, according to Page Six. "Jeff’s departure left a void," a source told the Post. "Then they had four co-executive producers and the staffing decisions being made were poor. Katie was left vulnerable." Things didn't get any better when Michael Bass, another Today veteran, left Katie to join longtime partner-in-crime Zucker over at CNN. At the time, The New York Times gave us a glimpse of what was happening behind closed doors:

But people at “Katie” and its distributor, the Walt Disney Company, say they expect a shake-up after the first season ends and before the second season begins. The executive who replaced Mr. Zucker just three months ago, Michael Morrison, has been marginalized, according to several staff members there, so much so that rumors are running rampant that he is about to be replaced.

So the show needed a shakeup after its first season and the guy in charge couldn't run the ship. That's a classic recipe for success in television. With all of that inside baseball business setting the table for the show's eventual demise, it was also losing in the ratings. Katie Couric was losing total viewers and the coveted-by-daytime-advertisers women 25-to-54 demographic to Steve Harvey.

So let's operate under the assumption Couric will leave ABC, even though she's signed long term and network reps decline she's on the move, and join Zucker at CNN. Where does Couric fit in? She could bounce Kate Bouldan from CNN's new morning show that had a long, arduous search to find its 'Katie Couric' role. Katie Couric would probably qualify. Sorry, Kate.

Or, more likely, Couric could move into the (admittedly crowded) primetime lineup. There have been rumors swirling for months about what Zucker will do to makeover CNN in primetime, from landing Leno to reviving Crossfire, but a classic Zucker move would be to replace the apparently vulnerable Piers Morgan. The move has been speculated about before.

Or, who knows, maybe she could be the new Wolf Blitzer.
